People are consuming and communicating information via social media at an increased rate. We tune out messages from brands and seek information on our own. Word-of-mouth marketing has sky rocketed. Social media has taken off and becoming the more reliable source of information for many people. Many companies realize this, yet are unsure of how to utilize these channels to work for them.
Most companies use social media as bulletin boards – broadcasting information they think is useful to their audience. While this information is important it does not get people talking. More importantly it does not build community. Some sites like Facebook have moved towards filtering posts people see based on engagement factor. Don’t waste your time talking to yourself!
